Taking Community Action
We greatly value the communities where we work. We give back in
many ways, including financial support, product donations and
volunteering. To maximize our impact, we focus our efforts in three
key areas:
- K-12 education
- Promoting engineering and computer science
- Children and youth health and welfare
Through employee giving and volunteering, as well as our
corporate philanthropy program, we take a targeted approach to
making a difference in these specific areas.
Everyone Has an Impact
Encouraging a spirit of giving is an important part of the
SanDisk culture. We promote specific volunteer activities aligned
with our areas of emphasis through our Signature Partnerships, and
support employees that want to give their time and talents to other
organizations they believe in by matching both financial and time
contributions. We also offer disaster relief and humanitarian aid
during times of crisis. Highlights of these efforts include:

- Major volunteer activities have supported the Second Harvest
Food Bank in Santa Clara, Habitat for Humanity, Resource Area for
Teaching, Sacred Heart Community Services, and the Leukemia and
Lymphoma Society
- Company matching of 580+ employee contributions totaling more
than $244,000
- Our Signature Partners now include the American Red Cross in
the U.S., and SOS Children's Village, Samarthanam Trust for the
Disabled, and One School at a Time in India
- Shanghai employees established a 40-member employee volunteer
team
- Taiwan employees donated to the Eden Social Welfare Foundation
to support after-school projects for disadvantaged minority
students
- Israeli employees hosted the fourth annual Memory Day, a
learning symposium, for local Arab high school students
Focus on Philanthropy
At SanDisk, we share our resources with charitable organizations
that address our key areas of focus: K-12 education, science,
technology, engineering and math (STEM), and children's/youth
health and welfare issues in our local communities. Since 2003, the
SanDisk Foundation has awarded more than 800 grants totaling $16
million worldwide. We also help students pursue careers in
engineering and computer science through the
SanDisk Scholars Program, an annual $1 million scholarship
program awarding scholarships up to $10,000 per student to students
from disadvantaged backgrounds.
