Corporation (NASDAQ: SNDK), a global
leader in flash memory storage solutions, today announced it has
appointed Eric S. Whitaker as the company's senior vice president
and chief legal officer. At SanDisk, Whitaker will be responsible
for all of the company's legal matters, including those related to
corporate governance, securities law, commercial agreements and
transactions, litigation, intellectual property (IP) development
and licensing strategies, and supporting SanDisk's joint ventures
and M&A transactions.
Whitaker's prior experience
includes extensive work with senior management teams and boards of
directors of technology companies on a variety of strategic,
operational and compliance matters.
Most recently at Tesla Motors,
Whitaker served as Tesla's general counsel and corporate secretary
with responsibilities including IP development, litigation
strategy, and structuring major corporate transactions. Prior to
Tesla, Whitaker held executive vice president and general counsel
positions at Avalanche Technology and flash memory provider Lexar
Media (Lexar). During Whitaker's seven years at Lexar, he also held
the position of executive vice president of corporate strategy with
a focus on technology licensing.
Whitaker obtained his J.D. from
Stanford Law School and his undergraduate degree in Politics from
Princeton University. His recognitions include being selected as
one of the 25 leading general counsel in California in 2011 by the
Daily Journal, and receiving the "In-House Legal Department of the
Year" award in 2012 by the Recorder, an American Lawyer
publication.
