With ZetaScale software, flash no longer has to masquerade as a faster spinning disk, subject to all of the I/O subsystem latencies. ZetaScale provides a higher level of abstraction to the storage device that more closely matches the way applications deal with data. This in turn allows the data store more freedom to optimize data placement.
ZetaScale software empowers Hadoop/NoSQL database applications to fully utilize the extreme parallelism of flash to achieve higher I/O throughput than with SSDs alone. The higher I/O throughput increases transactions per second (TPS) to maximize the total cost of ownership (TCO) of existing server infrastructure. With ZetaScale software and flash storage, the purchase of new servers may be deferred as existing servers can meet the performance and low latency demands of NoSQL applications.
For in-memory computing applications, like financial trading and on-line transactions, ZetaScale software enables a memory-based solution to extend the dataset into flash storage. ZetaScale software provides a key-value object store specifically designed to exploit the full benefits of flash for use by applications such as databases, in-memory compute platforms, real-time analytics, or messaging systems.
Applications can place and retrieve their logical objects into the ZetaScale key-value store which allows one to associate arbitrary keys with data and manages object migrations within the DRAM-flash storage hierarchy. ZetaScale software’s highly parallelized code supports high throughput for flash I/O, even for small objects, and optimizes the use of CPU cores, DRAM, and flash to maximize application throughput. Applications that have been flash-optimized through the use of ZetaScale can achieve performance levels close to in-memory DRAM performance.
