SanDisk Corporation is proud to be a supporting partner of Everest Team INSPI(RED), a high-tech climbing expedition that is attempting to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain by the end of May. In doing so, they are hoping to focus attention on AIDS in Africa. The climb up the Nepal side of the 29,035-foot peak is aimed at raising awareness of (RED), an initiative that partners with companies such as Dell, Windows and other major brands to help eliminate AIDS in Africa. After trekking from Lukla at 9,000 feet to Everest Base Camp at 17,600 feet, the team spent several days in April adjusting to the altitude. They are now involved in the most rigorous part of their mission — climbing to four smaller camps along the southeast ridge on their way to the summit. The team is carrying a variety of SanDisk products, including high-performance SanDisk flash memory cards for their cameras and camcorders. LATEST NEWS: CLIMBERS REACH THE SUMMITOn the morning of May 22, Nepalese time, Everest Team INSPI (RED) and two Sherpa, Tsering Dorjee and Fura Kancha, made it to the top of Mt. Everest.
