At SanDisk, uncompromising integrity is at the heart of who we are. We draw on internationally recognized standards to advance social responsibility. From our labor and supply chain policies to occupational health and safety, we put people first.

Dignity and Respect

Whether we're talking about our own staff or the individuals that enable our supply chain, we work hard to ensure people are treated well. We believe in fair compensation and prohibit forced, bonded, indentured, involuntary or child labor, and slavery or human trafficking. We also encourage open communication with management and respect the rights of employees to freely and voluntarily associate as they choose, free of harassment and intimidation.

Avoiding Conflict Minerals

SanDisk supports the industry’s standard to eliminate tungsten, tin, tantalum and gold (“conflict minerals”) that directly or indirectly finance or benefit armed groups originating from illegal mines in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) or an adjoining country. Accordingly, we have created, and are implementing, a corporate policy requiring our suppliers to adopt and implement a similar conflict minerals policy, and to conduct regular due diligence and make necessary disclosures. As a member of EICC (Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition), we are working with industry groups like the Conflict-Free Sourcing Initiative (CFSI) to develop and implement standards, tools, and practices. To date, SanDisk has made significant progress, having been recognized by the Enough Project, a leading non-governmental organization (NGO) issue champion, as the most improved company in the electronics industry, and ranked third overall in the 2012 Enough Project Annual Report. We have employed the use of the EICC GeSI template to identify the smelters/refiners that may process conflict minerals for SanDisk products. Smelters/refiners identified by our suppliers that are listed as compliant or validated by CFSI, are listed below.

Ensuring a Safe Workplace

Employee health and safety is paramount at SanDisk. We work diligently to minimize employee exposure to potential safety hazards through engineering and administrative controls, personal protective equipment, and preventive maintenance. We take a proactive approach to addressing potentially dangerous situations and implement controls to reduce their likelihood and impact.
