Why does SanDisk have a Privacy Policy?

SanDisk respects your privacy, and is committed to providing you with a positive experience on our website and in your other interactions with us. We want you to be informed about what we do with personal information you share with us.

The Privacy Policy explains our practices for handling personal information on- and off-line. If you provide us with personal information, we will treat it as outlined in the policy.

How will I know if the Privacy Policy has been updated?

If we update our Privacy Policy, we will post the revised policy in this location and will post a notice in a prominent location on our website. What is new about the January 1, 2014 updated Privacy Policy?

On January 1, 2014, SanDisk’s new Privacy Policy went into effect. The following are some of the changes reflected in the new Privacy Policy (U.S. Version):

  • Information collected: The scope of information collected has been broadened to include personal and non-personal information, real time location, information provided by prospective employment candidates, Unique Device Identifiers and other device information.
  • Information obtained when accessing the limited-access portions of site: Information obtained by logging on and registering for access to limited access portions of the site is addressed by the new Privacy Policy. SanDisk will retain login information to remember a user when the user logs in. This information may be linked to other information collected as the user visits the site.
  • Do-Not-Track settings: The new Privacy Policy states that the site is capable of recognizing when a user’s browser is set to a Do-Not-Track setting.
  • California specific provisions: The updated Privacy Policy includes provisions to address the sharing of information to third parties for direct marketing including the non-disclosure of information on minors.
  • Government requests: The new Privacy Policy states that SanDisk will disclose information to comply with government or quasi-governmental requests.

What types of information does SanDisk collect?

“Personal information” is information that can be used to identify you, including name, title, occupation, postal or physical address, telephone number, e-mail address, and other information required to carry out a transaction, provide a service or deliver a product you have requested. We collect and store community discussions, chats, correspondence through our Sites and correspondence sent to us.

We will not collect personal information from you if you have not given us your consent (approval) to do so. We will tell you why we wish to collect the personal information, and we will only use your personal information in the way and for the purposes we told you about when we collected it. We will not change the way in which your personal information is used unless we have your consent to do so.

“Non-personal information” includes hardware configuration, computer or device characteristics and connection information such as browser type, version and timezone setting, operating system, and platform; the full Uniform Resource Locator (URL) clickstream to, through and from our websites including date and time; cookie number; and the products you viewed, searched or purchased.

Will SanDisk sell or give my personal information to third parties?

We are not in the business of selling your personal information. SanDisk does not share your personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes, unless you have expressly agreed that we can do so.

We do use service providers to help us run our business operations. For example, we work with service providers to support our online sales and email or other communications you may have asked us to send you. What are cookies and does SanDisk use them?
