How to Back Up, Restore, and Free Up Space
Learn how to schedule backups and restore saved content to your mobile device.
Auto Backup
- Select your phone
- Tap on Back Up My Phone
- Using the toggles, select the content you’d like backed up
- Toggle on Auto Backup to automatically back up when you connect this drive
- Tap Run Backup and your backup will run with your selected settings
- With Auto Backup enabled, you’ll be prompted to confirm a backup each time you plug in your drive, helping ensure any new content is backed up
Manual Backup
- Select your phone
- Tap on Back Up My Phone
- Using the toggles, select the content you’d like backed up
- Tap Run Backup and your backup will run with your selected settings
- Follow backup progress until it’s finished
- You can also Pause, Resume, and Cancel the backup to return at your convenience
- Each backup thereafter will be incremental, where only new content will be backed up
Restore Backup
- Select the drive you want to restore content from
- Tap on Browse My Drive
- Tap on Backups
- Determine which past backup you would like to restore your phone to
- Tap the three dots next to that past backup
- Select Restore to Phone
- Follow restore progress until it’s finished
Free Up Space
- Select your phone
- Tap on Copy from Phone
- Select the items you want to copy and tap on Confirm Selection
- Select the destination in the connected drive
- Tap on Start Copy
- Follow copy progress until it’s finished
- Tap on Delete from Phone to free up space on your phone

Manage a Single File
- Select your drive
- Tap on Browse My Drive
- Scroll through your files
- Select the three dots next to the file you want to manage
- Choose whether you’d like to Copy, Move, Encrypt, Rename, Share, or Delete
- Continue the steps to complete your desired action
- Select your drive
- Tap on Browse My Drive
- Scroll through your files
- Select the three dot menu at the top right of the screen and tap on Select Items to enter selection mode (or long press on one of the files you want to manage)
- Select every file you’d like to manage
- Choose whether you’d like to Copy, Move, Encrypt, Share, or Delete
- Continue the steps to complete your desired action
